From what I'm reading, this video not a good representation of this turntable. Google search "djbooth.net technics SL-DZ1200 review" and read the article. It answers the issues in this video.

1) Update the firmware

2) Don't use low bitrate MP3's (less than 128k)

3) Don's scratch with pitch lock mode on (of course it will distort with pitch lock on).

Its unfortunate this turntable didn't catch on.  It looks way better than a CDJ. I might try to buy it used.
