My slant on Eleanor Rigby, the story is a timeless one and I believe it can be told in many ways. If you ever get chance to check out the true story of Eleanor and it is a very sad one indeed, you will see that the Beatles song isn't a reflection of her life because she actually was happily married but a reflection of loneliness that people endure. Eleanor wanted children but sadly she couldn't and she died of a brain heamorage aged 44yrs in 1939. Exactly one year later John Lennon was born. The church where Eleanor is buried is the same one where John met Paul at the church fete. Supposedly Paul came up with the name Eleanor from the actress Eleanor Bron. Eleanor's real surname was Whitfield, she kept the name Rigby due to the fact that her family name on her grandfathers side was dying out. Her married name was Woods.
