Several minutes after 7pm, the situation went awry, and the horseback officers dispersed the protesters from the scene. The police officers followed the suit, and pushed away the bystanders about 30 feet from the original area, then stopped near Schenley Plaza.
In this video, the viewers can see a man, in front of the recorder, attempted in vain to express his dismay at the officers before being pushed away.

P.S.: The recorder left at 7:15pm after recording this part, then the standoff last another four hours before riot police finally dispersed the crowd by force, then protesters ran wild in Oakland and caused some damages to the stores in that area.
