Holding the space is one of many terms bantered around coaching circles, receiving more lip than service. As a coach, you know you should be holding the space for your clients, but more than likely, you were never told how to actually do it. Without knowing it, you may be somewhat missing the mark!
Drawing upon research findings from her PhD study of coaching, in this presentation, which was held at the Brisbane ICF chapter meeting in February 2010, Dr Kerryn Griffiths uses an experiential and discovery learning approach to explain four components of holding the space in coaching.
