Continuing in the vein of the classic hip hop vibe, it's my small tribute to the styles and sounds of Dilla, Pete Rock, Premier, and all the other giants. Soulful samples, fat beats, and a whole lotta vibe. Every sound and loop is being triggered with the Novation Launchpad without any extra elements. Enjoy!

  • I can only barely get a grasp of how these work by watching someone use it, makes me want to get my hands on one!

  • @GanjaRastamanBoi Haha, very true man. I think most big name producers have used MPCs to aid them in sequencing samples though for decades now, including Just Blaze, Kanye West, etc. as well as many underground producers. Many of them even use FL WITH an MPC. But yeah, like you said, it doesn't really matter what you use, as long as you can create something amazing.

  • @kroser1983 lol I realise all of that. I was just summarizing... You are right, the real skill comes into play when choosing and cutting the samples.

  • @djchozen91 its not how hip hop is made but the point is its traditional hip hop its just not how you make it. i use fl(here come the haters) some use mpcs but all in all hip hop is expression whatever you can use to express yourself be it pots and pans or a million dollar studio.

  • @djchozen91 well for starters im not just triggering pre made loops which requires no skill at all, what ur doing here is something u would do AFTER you made the beat, i would bang out the drums my self, show how i put the chops together and not just show the completed loops, no my friend this is not how hip hop is made, this is how hiphop is shown maybe, but not made

  • @kroser1983 er...yes it is. That's how it's TRADITIONALLY made. How do you make it?

  • @djchozen91 no its not, i know what hip hop is, i got over 7000 subs through my hip hop music so dont try tell me its made this way.

  • @kroser1983 what do you mean "the making".... this is how most traditional hip hop is made. Samples are simply cut from songs of the artists choosing and assigned to buttons. This is then usually messed around with live, as you see above. It's all recorded and then edited and polished later to make sure everything has the right timing and/or to rearrange clips or add other effects. Welcome to hip hop production...

  • i want to learn it! but how i start? what mpd is good for starters?

  • @FunkinDub I just bought a refurbished one from guitar center for 89.99. Came out to 111 and some change with shipping and tax. New ones cost 150.00.
