Museum technician Drew Robarge examines a mysterious pair of eyeglasses for clues about their origins. This history mystery is presented in American Sign Language (ASL).

"When an inventory specialist working in the museum's medicine collection announced that she had discovered a pair of Battlestar Galactica glasses, I—a huge science fiction fan who often likes to imagine that he defends the human race against the Cylons—quickly commandeered the glasses for a closer look."

This video was created by Kent Chadwick, in partnership with the American University School of Communication.

  • All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again.

  • The Blastr site on Syfy posted this vid and got some crediable hits on the comments. They were most likey produced by Pearl Vision in the 80's and offered a variety of themes other than BSG and probably weren't all that rare. Well, they weren't rare in the 80's however this may be the only pair left in existence.

  • I had the exact same ones in 1980/81. Exactly the same. Not a prop, sold commercially

  • Do the glasses contain actual prescription lenses? or are they just pass through like a prop?

  • Has anyone looked into any cast member wearing them in the show? They look like prescription glasses, maybe look into who needed glasses on set?

Another idea would be they could be a present to financial backers of the series. You might want to contact some of the younger cast members or even go to a convention that has some of the original cast.

My bet is they are a promotion piece for studio bigwigs.

  • I hope he finds out more about the history, who made them(besides Universal), and whatnot.

  • Dwight Schrutes first pair of eyeglasses.
