The Soviet Chessmaster Rashid Nezhmetdinov was one of the most feared attacking players in chess history. Although not well known in the west, he won many brilliancy prizes and defeated most of the best players of his era, including Mikhail Tal, Boris Spassky, David Bronstein, Efim Geller, Lev Polugaevsky, Isaak Boleslavsly, Salo Flohr, Andor Lilienthal, Gideon Stahlberg, and many other strong grandmasters.

  • and did you notise Semen Furman foto wasnt from 1954?He was only 32 back there,so the Soviet Tv could had mistaken

  • @aleksandrpondios Yes that's film footage of furman= not a photo, I got that from a different Russian TV documentary. You are right, he is much older in the film footage than he was in 1954. However, I thought people might want to see as much live footage of the masters as possible. And yes, the Russian TV show on Korchnoi could be mistaken. So any further information from anyone is welcome= is it Stein or Korchoi? Post here if you have an opinion, or some concrete information.

  • @jessicafischerqueen i have many chess books,so i saw several Stein"s foto, looks really like Leonid.Where are you come from and there did you get all those wonderful boografieis.Because i am really crazy about chess history!Thanke you!

  • @aleksandrpondios It does look like Stein. I just checked the source file I got the footage from- it's a Russian TV documentary, the segment is discussing Korchnoi at a tournament in Leningrad. I still think it's Korchnoi in the footage- notice he is missing his upper right first molar, which he didn't fix decades. However, anyone else please give their opinion on this. I will try to find out more. If we do identify this as Stein, I will have to post a correction.

  • @isedairi you damn right it is Leonid Stein, one of the most talented chessplayers ever!

  • Very interesting life he lead! Love his games, history and music combined :)

  • thanks very interesting video...that chess composition looks impossible??...

  • @isedairi Just great work !!! Thank you for this video

  • @isedairi Yes, that's Viktor Korchnoi, not Stein, although he does look like Stein in that film clip.

  • Is that Korchnoi at 6:54?? Looks like Stein to me.
