Running late by some 10 minutes at Wootton Bassett Junction (approx. 7 miles west of Swindon) was 6024 King Edward 1st on an untitled steam hauled excursion from Taunton to Stratford-on-Avon and return to Bristol Temple Meads. Wednesday 7th September 2005. It was a little while later with the King pausing for water in Swindon West yard that a small crowd had gathered to view the loco from an adjacent car park (which happened to be a private area but all had entered through an unlocked gate). A security guy took objection to our presence and decided to hound us out one-by-one but the irony here is that the car park was for English Heritage office staff. Now come on Mr. Security, remove your 'job's worth' hat for crying out loud! A piece of England's heritage for all to admire and you want us to leave the site? I'm sorry but, at the time, I just did not get it!(1290)
