http://russiatravel.us music of M.I.Glinka In 1716 the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I presented the Amber Room as a diplomatic gift to Peter the Great. During the life of Peter the Amber Room has been installed. Peter's Daughter Elizabeth decided to use the amber room for decoration of one of the chambers of the Winter Palace - their official residence. The room has an area of 100 square meters. The interior was decorated with marble florentine mosaic.
During the World War II, the Amber Room could not be taken to another place because of the fragility of the parts. Germany, occupied the outskirts of Leningrad, looted the Catherine Palace and the end of 1941 have taken the Amber Room to the capital of the former East Prussia - Koenigsberg...

  • Was just in St. Petersburg, Russia and visited the Summer Palace! The Amber Room was my all time favorite. It was great you could make this video because when we were there, photos were NOT allowed in that room.
