Tommy wants pizza for dinner, but Hank and Iris tell him that there are lots of groceries in the fridge, and Hank has prepared a special dinner for Tommy tonight. Tommy asks if they can heat the food again. Hank supposes so, but tells Tommy that everybody might have plans. Cass says his only plans are to be with Frankie, and Frankie says she and Cass would love to stay if they're not intruding. Tommy suggests putting it to a vote. The only person who votes for Hank's potluck is Iris; everyone else votes for pizza. John offers to go and pick up the pizza. Tommy says he'll eat anything but anchovies, which everyone but Iris agrees with. Tommy orders the pizza, Iris and John go to pick it up, and Cass helps Hank throw together a salad while Frankie sets the table. Frankie returns to the living room to ask Tommy what he'd like to drink. He tells her he'll stick with water. She sees him looking at an angel ornament on the tree, and Tommy tells Frankie he hopes that isn't what angels really look like. Frankie tells him they don't. Tommy tells Frankie that Dean told him that she was in an explosion last year and she died and came back, and he asks her what it was like. Frankie tells him it was very peaceful. She was a bit confused at first, but she wasn't frightened. Tommy asks Frankie to tell him about it, so she does. At first, she was in the same room as her body, but she wasn't in her body; she was in the air above everybody else, kind of like floating. She felt fine, but she was a bit sad for everyone who was hurt and angry that she was leaving them. Tommy asks if Frankie was alone, and she tells him she wasn't. She started talking to people right away. They weren't people like Frankie and Tommy are people, but they looked just like you and me, and she felt like she knew them all. The one Frankie remembers best is a little boy. Tommy asks if the boy was dressed like a kid or if he was in sandals and robes. Frankie laughs and says he was dressed like a kid. Tommy says that's good, because he's spent enough time in hospital gowns. Frankie tells Tommy it's a little difficult to explain, but this boy was the spirit of a child she never had, like a son; what he would have been like if she had had him. Tommy says he grew up in Heaven, and Frankie says yeah, she guesses Tommy could say that. Cass returns to the living room then and stays in the background, listening to and watching Frankie and Tommy. Frankie tells Tommy it was really wonderful being with her son. Tommy asks her why she came back, and Frankie replies that her son told her there were things she had to do here. When Tommy says it must have been hard for Frankie to leave him, Frankie replies that it was, but she knew she would see him again. She could see that he was happy there, and she knew he would be even happier if she did what he told her to do, and she hopes that he thinks she's doing a good job down here. Tommy asks if they can watch people on Earth from up there, and when Frankie says that's the impression that she got, Tommy says that's cool, because he'd still be able to keep an eye on his dad, and he'd like that. Frankie asks Tommy for a Christmas hug, so he hugs her and she hugs him back. When she releases him, Tommy thanks her. Then Tommy goes into the kitchen, and when they're in the living room alone, Cass goes to Frankie's side and gently pulls her into his arms and rocks her, kissing her cheek as she closes her eyes against the tears and holds onto him. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

  • That was a wonderfully sweet scene!! Seeing Frankie relive the experience with Tommy and giving him a sense of ease about things...it was really nice! I love that Iris was trying to make Hank feel better picking potluck over pizza!!
