There are about 20, they've been released annually. Mostly because, obviously, football is the most popular sport in the world and people love it, and because FIFA is based on real teams, real players, so it's a much more "realistic" simulation game, with players and their attributes changing massively every year, not to mention regular changes in engine. Not to say it's without criticism, they are definitely money-grabby, with concurrent games yearly costing about 40 pounds, being way excessive
