Please do not cut clips from my videos. I really hate starting out my video information this way because its very tedious and inconvenient but I put a lot of effort and time into finding characters and downloading films to make my vidoes unique. Consequently, its extrememly irritating to see the EXACT SAME clips I put together used in other people's videos. It takes next to no effort to steal from other people and since this continuing problem has greatly discouraged me from making more vids, I would appreciate it if my original ones were left ALONE.

PLEASE READ - First off, I am not in any way affiliated with Anna Godbersen nor do I know of a movie coming out for this story. I am simply an avid fan of her new book, The Luxe. I received it Christmas Eve, read it Christmas Day and promptly knew I had to make a video for it.

I STRONGLY encourage you to READ THIS BOOK. It is fantastic - in the same league as the Gemma Doyle & Twilight trilogies. And the best part is that this author is planning more books in this series so there is more to look forward to!

I don't want to spoil the book for anyone with a detailed synopsis but I don't want to confuse anyone so here's a bit of background. It basically chronicals the lives of two sisters, the lovely blonde Elizabeth Holland and her passionate, free-spirited sister Diana. Things get messy when Elizabeth falls in love below her station but is forcibly engaged to society dreamboat Henry Schoonmaker. Things get even more complicated when Henry begins to take a particular interest in Diana.

For more info, READ THIS BOOK! I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Regarding the video: I used clips from the BBC miniseries Wives and Daughters as well as a TV version of Dracula (2006). It was a little difficult to mesh them and unfortunately, both of the leading men are quite similar in appearence. To avoid confusion, there are 5 characters - the blonde girl is Elizabeth and the brunette is Diana. The guy with light brown/blonde hair that is always dressed up in a suit is supposed to be Henry and the ruggedly handsome stud in plain clothes (that is constantly portrayed with the blonde girl) is Will Keller. And the haughty looking girl with narrow, slitted eyes thats constantly dressed in red is Penelope Hayes, Elizabeth's scheming, unscrupulous friend.

For those good with names:
Elizabeth Holland - Sophia Myles
Diana Holland - Justine Waddell
Will Keller - Anthony Howell
Henry Schoonmaker - Dan Stevens
Penelope Hayes - Rosamund Pike

  • nop I dont think a movie would be enough because if not filmed by a good director the movie would turn to be awful so thats why I vote that they do a tv series of the book that way its longer and they do everything by the book and they add more and that I dont want the luxe novels to end

:( it woud be like gossip girl oh and I loved the vid good job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha... I think so too. Hollywood has a way of messing up book to movie adaptations.

  • is this a complete girl book or historical fiction? cause i wanna read some teen historical fiction and when i asked the girl at barnes and nobel sae said that this series is good historical fiction, but the covers are girly? can i get any help. thanks :)

  • No. They're not 'girly.' Any historical fiction romance is going to have an element of femininity in it and that's what the book essentially is - a historical fiction romance. By 'girly' if you mean insipid and Harlequin, than no. It has a historical Victorian backdrop but there are no major historical events taking place. It mainly focuses on the intersecting lives of 5 Manhattan teenagers, their loves, sorrows, jealousies, betrayals, etc. Try one. Dont read the others if u dont like it.

  • I didn't watch the video until today - when I read, and promptly finished, the book - but the fact that you had this up made me check it out in the first place. It was fantastic, and your video was just as good!

  • That's so good to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed it :). I've posted a bunch of new stuff on both my accounts recently - plenty more tributes for my favorite books and films, with two more projects currently in the works.

  • This is absolutely brilliant!

I've never seen a trailer this good. I'd like to know where you got the clips from... And I agree with the last comment, The Luxe is miles ahead of Gemma Doyle and Twilight. Wonderful job on creating a vid that represents the series so well.

  • this is really like the book it like really fits!!!

  • @bookdude39 i think from the moment you read the prologue, you will fall in love. that's what happened to me.. i read the first one in about a week. and it was completely random that i ended up reading it too. i needed a book for my english isu and i saw it at the bookstore, and had seen it before and i really wanted to read it, so i bought it... without even knowing if i would really like it or not. and i'm so glad i bought it because it's the best book series ever!

  • omg this is exactly like the luxe!! it's amazing.

  • LOVE THIS SERIES!!! :D

  • yea it was great until anna fucked it up with splendor

  • Wonder what the film studios would have to say to 96% of the other Youtube users who are uploading copyrighted material by your preachy logic? Or is it just me who was lucky enough to capture your attention?
