I can tell you exactly when this was - it's April 1989. This was from the pilot episode for the C4 'youth arts' series Club X, and was shot in the basement of a club opposite the Natural History Museum in London. I was a researcher on the series, and spent most of the afternoon hanging out with the band. How was this clip found? Amazing.

I remember watching this late one night as a 12 year old and discovering the Pixies. I also remember Dave Lovering doing some of the presenting.
