@SuperMrAtheist No, you don't understand the severity and power of God with His chosen people. God had to command certain things done in the Old Testament in order to lead the chosen people to the promised land.
You've got to understand that this was the Old Testament of the Law when God was naturally at enmity with mankind. In the New Testament which Jesus Christ has established, things are much different. Jesus was the fullfillment of the Law and Prophets, and he came to end the enmity of God
