Demonstration of a probably-a-glitch using the 'Silk Touch' enchant. in Minecraft 1.9 Prerelease 4.

At the time of the upload of this video, there's no reliable way (that I know of) to predict which enchant you'll get. Seeing as how every time I've gotten a Silk Touch pickaxe it's cost around 20 levels, I don't actually anticipate getting one without cheating your EXP (Which I did just for the sake of demonstration) to be 'easy,' but it makes a nice long term challenge for more advanced players.

Quick Note: This is actually a composite of a few takes to try and cover up some of my babbling, so you may notice I magically gain an ice block when I go through the portal.

  • They nerfed it :(

  • @newburro But you haven't always been able to legitimately get ice in your inventory. Key here is "Legit survival game"

  • @DraykonVokelda you have always been able to place ice in the nether and get water

  • that have been in the game for a long time but now when silk touch is added (best enchantment by far) i hope notch make the ice give the same effect as a bucket of water when placed in the nether. But nice vid :)

  • I hope Notch keeps this in the game; its doesn't really spoil the game seeing as you need an enchanted pick to do this.

  • @arthion1231 Mining ice isn't. Placing it in the Nether probably is.
