The second movement, Allegro ma non tanto, of Bernhard Joachim Hagen's Sonata in D Minor. Writing at the time of C.P.E. Bach and the young Haydn, Hagen incorporated facets of the Empfindsamer and Sturm und Drang style into his lute music. These artistic movements are based around rapid changes of character achieved via sudden changes in tempo, dynamics, tone color and articulation.
