My buddies 4 cyl Pinto went 9.60s on just juice. Now he has a tube framed 4cyl probe that runs 8.50s @ 160. Cool thing is he builds his own engines and all machine shop work.
I didn't mention Fairmonts or Tauruses,by name,so you got what I meant.I guess I'll have to stop reading Road and Track and Car and Driver, they're so full of misinformation, according to you.Fairlanes were mid-size,Fairmonts were too,Tauruses are large.(I don't believe it either)
No, the big difference is everything else about them. Similar chassis dimensions or market category don't make two cars related. In the cases you cited, not even close. A Fairlane is not a Fairmont is not a Taurus is not a Five Hundred. They are all in the same category, but all are completely different designs, completely different cars.
They share track width, body width. The big differences are in the lenghths.Researching this showed that Falcons are closer to being 90's Taurus sized than Pinto sized, true enough. But,like GM,Ford has been making the same three sized cars since the early 70's.Big and little Falcons and Fairlanes. They call Fairlanes Crown Victorias nowadays. And GM was making Chevettes and Celebritys for at least thirty years.
Pintos were little Falcons(from the early 60's)in disguise, with Mazda drivetrains.Mustang 2's were the same thing.Mercury Bobcats,as well.Nuts and bolts on the body in fractions.Nuts and bolts on the drivetrain in metric.I ended up having a helluva lot of tools when I had my Mustang 2.Good cars,in spite of their reputations...
