Examination of the Thyroid Gland

I just found out today that I have an over active thyroid. Can it be cured?

what is thyroid exactly, i suffer from panic attacks and wondering if its worth taking up with my doctor ?

From what i've seen on the internet the thyroid is a gland in the neck which releases hormones to control the rate of your metabolism and other bodily functions.

If it's over or underactive and so releases too much or too little of the hormones and one of the symptoms is panic attacks, anxiety and depression (these are symptoms of hyperthydroidism which is when its overactive) so i guess it could be worth talking to your doctor about it.
