I'm a huge fan of the undisputed queen of classic horror, Barbara Steele. Therefore, it only seems proper that somebody seek to combine memorable highlights from Ms. Steele's filmography with some appropiately macabre musical accompaniment. If you must, keep a night-light burning, 'fraidy cats!
LYRICS:
Through bleary eyes I see the touch light
Beyond the panes I sense a danger
There's silhouettes of a hundred people
My Sister Moon would reveal no stranger
Collect my mantel, collect my senses
I must away, slip into the dark night
Would they go I should sleep till sunrise
And with the day there would be some respite

Fly, sister, fly
Into the dark night that loves you
Into the darkness
Let not their eyes catch your shining

Out the door and into the night air
Oh, sweet Moon, don't betray your sister now
Across the fields not a glance behind me
The din so loud they must be upon me
Away, away and away and away now
Fast as the wind, just as fast as the hare now
Where I a cat I would not act fearfully
Those stumbling men would be no match for me

Fly, sister, fly
Into the dark night that loves you
Into the darkness
Let not their eyes catch your shining

Must catch my breath, must not let them hear me
Though my heart is so loud it would deafen me
Now a shout they must know where I lie
So to my feet and again I must fly
Rush through the trees, the thorn, the bramble
While high above an owl flies carefree
Why be I here, I should be beside him
Ere will I go, they'd expect it of me

Fly, sister, fly
Into the dark night that loves you
Into the darkness
Let not their eyes catch your shining

  • I love this Song :D

  • @DruidDarkwitch Thanks, me too. I love the driving force of the melody, and the meaning behind the lyrics. :-)

  • very very good video footage for the song :) torchlight ...sense of danger...... ect, very apt choice, well done

  • @NigeThePython Thanks so much, I appreciate the encouragement.

  • Wow, really creepy and awesome all at once. I have never seen any Barbra Steele movies, way before my time! But I'd like to. Very well done with the visuals of this classic film horror vintage. Very cool Gothling my friend!

  • Believe it or not, I came to appreciate Barbara Steele's "body of work" (hee-hee-hee) fairly late in life. She did most of her best films from 1960 (Mario Bava's "Black Sunday" was her Italian horror premiere -- a huge favorite of Tim Burton's) till about 1965, largely in the Euro horror market (though she did "Pit & The Pendulum" with Vincent Price in the U.S.). So, we're talkin' OLD stuff. Unfortunately, they didn't run these films on TV when I was a kid, so I never saw them until years later.

  • @DarknessdeathVampire ' *Mother*: I'm unbiased here, but... 'emotionally unstable' because she does not follow blindly your own religious prejudices?

  • excellent combination...and my Dad used to say I looked like her!

DO NOT CONTACT MY MINOR DAUGHTER AGAIN; THIS IS MY COMPUTER (Mother's) and IF YOU CONTACT MYEMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE DAUGHTER AGAIN, I WILL KNOW ABOUT IT, and will report you to the authoriities.

I HOLD A DEGREE IN LAW SCIENCES, and if you cross me, YOU ARE IN MY TERRITORY. UNDERSTAND ME??

  • Interesting, I haven't seen any of her movies, but if I come across one I'll be sure to check it out. Yeah, I'd like anything with Vincent Price and of course The Pit And The Pendulum based on the Edgar Alan Poe story. I'd love to see that sometime.
