  • I think its very strange that it is eft so late for a first competiton . Maybe it would be easier for the girls to start even mock competetions to become accustomed to the rigid atmostphere and the pressure. poor things!

  • @beautifulsarah100 Nobody said there wasn't a point, and nobody said it shouldn't be high pressure. Hard work is one thing. But listen to me, and listen good: There is absolutely NO cause or justification for DEGRADING and VERBALLY ABUSING these children. NONE. Toma is a prime example of how pushing a child goes too far.

  • @BoraBoraGirl2001 I don't think it's miserable - rather focused. Gymnastics is a high-pressure sport, it's not fun and games. At least it shouldn't be. Romania doesn't train these girls just to give them something to do on summer break. There is a point to all the training. By the time they're 12 or so, the ones who were unfit for the sport have left, as it should be. The strong remain.

  • It is ridiculous that they base these girls' future on ONE competition. I know for a fact that many world and Olympic medalist had poor first meets when they were very young. What is wrong with giving them experience in low-level competitions to see how they handle it over time? Putting this kind of pressure on them is cruel.

  • @yanevenu Are you joking??? These kids look flat-out miserable. No sport is worth making a kid go through this kind of pressure. Ridiculous.

  • plus, isn't this like their first competition? they're probably really nervous, hence the serious looks.

  • Of course they are serious, this is a competition that may mean the fheir future ability to train and compete in something they obviously love.

Why do people think children must be all smiles and kisses? If they are to have productive futures they also need discipline. Most children don't even want to practice piano. These are not them. They have siblings who are not so focused - no one is forcing these kids, they have goals and dreams.
