The balloon track / reversing loop around the depot is an interesting track configuration. Do you use that to turn whole trains, or just for switching the industries?

I am always on the lookout for interesting prototype photos of railroad equipment that I can make models of. My favorite railroads are the BNSF, ConRail, and SP (including the Daylight red, orange, and black paint job #4449), but any interesting photos would help. If anyone can help out post here and let me know please. Thank you!

I am a BIG railfan as well as a model railroader. When I first tell people of my hobbies my first question is always "Why would you set around watching trains?" I smile and simply tell them about me being a model railroader too, taking pictures of engines and cars and duplicating it with the models. Then after showing them photos of both the model and prototype photos all they can say then is "WOW!" (after their jaws hit the floor).

Nice layout, see if you can put some sort of design drawing of the entire layout, it is good to see others ideas drawn out. I have designed several layout plans in colored pencils to give me an idea how the layout would roughly look. I have settled on a plan finally (modern era as well) and look forward to posting my progress here on youtube.
