Serve Rhode Island kicked off its 16th year of the AmeriCorps Program at the State House with opening day ceremonies including taking the pledge of service. This year's 524 AmeriCorps members will be serving the Rhode Island community through 16 local programs including: Brown University College Guides, City Year Rhode Island, Clear Corps, East Bay Community Action, Highlander Times Square Charter Corps, JumpStart, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Mt. Hope Learning Center, Ocean State Environmental Education Collaborative, Providence After School Alliance, Providence Children's Museum, Providence City Arts for Youth, Ready to Learn Providence, Scholarships for Service/Campus Compact, Teach for America and Youth Build.
