LEGO NXT Rubik's Cube solver (preview pt 2)

The machine here is the same as in the last video. We have refined the hardware a bit and added a motor control abstraction layer to the software. The role of this layer is to translate commands from the solver algorithm to sequences of motor events in hardware. This video illustrates a test of this. Here we have a known cube configuration and a known (hardwired) solution. As you see, it succeeds in controlling the motors.

So... Did you use a reverse script to shuffle it and then just played it forward to solve?

In this case yes. But please watch the final version. It solves the cube from scratch. (One of the responses to this video is a video of the final version)

Not this version of the solver. This video was shot pretty early in the project, and it only demonstrates that cube manipulation works.

One of the video responses above is a video of the final version which is able to solve any random cube. Please go check that out instead :)

It depends on the battery power. The motors are powerful enough, but only barely.
