WASSUP GAME HEADZ!! Time for more fast-paced action on TV's classic $25,000 Pyramid. This is part one of an episode from the week of 6/1/87-6/5/87. Special guests include the legendary Betty White (from The Mary Tyler Moore Show and more famously, The Golden Girls), and the Dean of Game Shows himself, Bill Cullen (former host of the syndicated, '70s $25,000 Pyramid and numerous other game shows). This week is also very special because it marked Mr. Cullen's retirement from television. Aside from being stricken with polio at age ten, Bill, a long-time smoker, learned in 1990 that he had lung cancer and on July 7th, he passed away from complications from the terrible disease.

R.I.P.
Bill Cullen
(1920-1990)

I'll see ya when I get there. :)

This is an original broadcast from CBS. Sorry for the picture quality, guys!

  • Who was in the flashback clip at the start of the movie?

  • That was Anne Bloom from HBO's '80s news spoof comedy, Not Necessarily The News. :-) I'm actually friends with her on Facebook! We talk about the Pyramid a lot! :-)

  • Do you have the episode with Ray boom boom Mancini?

  • Who's he? :-)

  • I actually know which episode that one is from. That one is from the Tuesday show from her week with Tom Poston. The male contestant that's kissing her is American Bandstand alumnus Frank Conway, who, by the Tuesday show, had a grand total of $43,450 including a car, a trip to Bermuda, and a CD Player.

And BTW, if you're wondering when the infamous $0 WC was from, it was from the first WC of the Friday show.

Just stating a fun fact. :)

  • Do not forget that Bill Cullen hosted the original The Price Is Right. I know it's mentioned that he hosted game shows, but I think we should address that.

    GO UCLA~~!

  • Looks like a tracking issue... so jumpy.. LOL.. but I don't care!! Thank you so much for uploading this gem!!

  • This was Bill Cullen's last TV appearence! He died 3 years later! He already looks sick!

  • @vnisanian2001 Frank Conway also appeared as a contestant on the 1987, Bob Stewart-produced pilot called Money In The Blank. The pilot was hosted by GO's Kevin O'Connell, and featured Pyramid alumni, Teresa Ganzel and Nathan Cook as celebrity partners. Raarrow has it up on his YouTube channel... :-)

  • The playing that featured The Win from the flashback intro clip is up now. Type $25,000 Pyramid Anne Bloom (2).

  • I thought I did see him once on $100K Pyramid. He kind of flubbed in giving clues in the winner's circle for "Things you Pick." But then, he said, "your nose" to the contestant after Dick Clark came to meet with them... and the contestant did say "things you pick."

  • So it must have been the week of April 21 to 25, 1986 in which the $0 winners circle clip was posted. GSN should air this episode soon.

  • I think he was a boxer.

  • Yes.
