Here is a short, brief, video tutorial of how to get an HDR effect in Final Cut Pro and Magic Bullet Looks. This is NOT True HDR video, but this tutorial can show you how to get a slight HDR effect. I watched...

and decided to take the ideas and concept for this tutorial and tweak some things to be able to do this in FCP.

I hope you enjoy this HDR tutorial and I hope it helps you.

  • It'

s not KINDA HDR..it just looks horrible...lol...dude...seriously man..get another gig, this isnt for you.

  • @DavoRocks It was an experiment. Figure I would share it. From a person that has a company your quite an ass... Why not to try and be professional?

  • You could only get away with this

if your viewers were either drunk or

    blind... absolutely awful ...

  • @broncojonnes Kind of like your videos, Absolutely aweful. Opinion are like assholes, everyone's got one and they stink. There's no such thing as HDR video so trying to recreate it is a challenge. This is a small way of getting an HDR effect... Not hating, just saying

  • First up, great you're sharing this workflow.

However, this is all post and no true HDR video since you're not expanding the camera latitude. You can clearly see this in the original version of the final clip where the sky is fully clipped (all-white). The HDR effect adds a weird blur that has nothing to do with seeing the clouds. Feel free to read my article on HDR video acquisition using non-HDRx cameras: reelseo com / hdr-video-3d

  • @BrandedChannels First up, thanks for watching this video. I appreciate your input.

However, I know its not True HDR. In the tutorial I say this is not true HDR but this tutorial lets you achieve an HDR style look. The sky is all white because it was snowing. I probably should of tried it another day, but when you live in southwest PA in the winter, it tends to snow 90% of the time. There is simply no detail in the sky what-so-ever.

  • Have you tried taking the exposure up and down 1 stop through filters and masking? I haven't yet, but curious if that would work.
