Here's another great blast from the past! This is one of four "spice cabinet" 45/AM radio models I own with two already up on YT. I suspect the people that made this cabinet are the same that make the cabinets for the GUILD radios. This is a maple cabinet model with a Crescent 45 RPM mechanism. I had a YT watcher offer this to me knowing it wasn't working and had missing parts. Someone in the past removed the 4" speaker and ferrite antenna (WHY??!!). I had the parts I needed here so replaced them, recapped the chassis, replaced a couple of tubes, rebuilt the RP-190 mechanism, replaced the cartridge w/Sonotone 52T ceramic stereo cartridge bridged for mono and...voila! Now we have a good working and beautiful piece of 50's history brought back into the 21st century! These show up from time to time, ALL needing rebuilding, and they look terrific displayed because they're actual pieces of good looking/good working furniture! Find one & enjoy the experience. I, like always, hope you enjoyed seeing another great piece of 50's history. Stay tuned, there's more to come!!

  • Nice piece! I'd love to have on of those spice chest 45 players. BTW, I have a mid to late 60s Concord cassette recorder w/ a Phillips-type mechanism.

  • I've never seen a spice cabinet player before. It's a cute little thing, isn't it! Thanks for showing it to us! -- Atco
