Wild Kingdom had the nicest sounding theme of any TV show ever. As a tot I watched it every Sunday and then The Wonderful World of Disney which came right after.

  • jvarela965, like you, my sunday evening consisted of Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins and then the Wonderful World Of Disney, with the little pixie flying around. I grew up in a southern town called Ozark, Alabama. Thank you for the memories. Also, The Ed Sullivan Show. Do you remember that as well. Maybe on another channel. Anyway, thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

  • Ed Sullivan's was probably the greatest TV show ever and an icon for those alive in the 60's. & early 70's. Sullivan was originally a radio sports broadcaster who in 1932 discovered Jack Benny and got him his start. Both men were close friends and both died around the same time.

  • I loved this music as a child, Wild Kingdom was one of my favorite shows. It came on Sundays before the six-o-clock news. Then at seven, I watched Lassie, Then Gentle Ben, Then The Wonderful World Of Disney, after that went off I had to go to bed. I guess my parents would then turn on Bonanza, Then Ed Sullivan.

  • @fromthesidelines Personally I like both versions, this one posted and the 60s version. i wasn't too thrilled about that later electronic version.

  • There was more worth watching on TV then and there is on the 200+ channels I have now. lol

  • Agreed about Mutual and Disney but the night before was Hee Haw followed by some Emergency then later...a little Love Boat...But for sound tracks don't forget Kung Fu on Saturday evenings as well. Great memories

  • that's right....disney was the show following the kingdom. wild world of animals was a great show as well.

  • HAHAHA...lol. You are so correct. Marlin would mix it up every blue moon, with the smaller animals that didn't require a lot of strenuous energy..Great comment...

  • Yes, byrd56 that is part of the theme song that i remember as well. It went something like " Mutual of Omaha is people, you can count on when the goings rough " Those were good memories.

  • reminds me of riding the santa fe texas chief with my grandmother in the 70's.
