(Sacramento) Two California State Assembly Committees met this week to establish state priorities for federal stimulus package dollars that are targeted for environmental safety and water projects. Assemblymember Wesley Chesbro (D-Arcata), chair of the Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials Committee, told those crowded into the state capitol hearing room California can utilize federal stimulus money to create good, green and smart jobs to help lift us out of this economic depression and improve the states environment at the same time. Chesbros committee and the Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee, chaired by Assemblymember Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael), heard from several experts on flood protection, water management, water quality, and fish and wildlife resources.
