The "Einsatzgruppen Case" charged 23 defendants, who were officers of the SS Elite Guard and in charge of the extermination squads, with responsibility for the murder of 2,000,000 people.
The defendant's defense hinged upon the argument that they had acted legally, as soldiers, and had merely been following orders. The Opening Statement was presented by Ben Ferencz.
The Tribunal found 20 defendants guilty with 14 sentenced to death, 2 to life and 5 from 10 to 20 years. For further information see www.roberthjackson.org.

  • A brilliant, eloquent statement of the monstrous crimes of the Third Reich and the justification of international trial punishment.

  • SOUNDS TRUE, IS IT ???????

  • This entire proceeding was a fucking joke. Americans killed Prisoners of War, took body parts as trophies, and the Australians threw Japanese PoW's out of moving airplanes for shits and giggles.

There was not a SINGLE case made against the soldiers and C.O.s who conducted such behavior contrary of the Hague Conventions I and II as well as their agreements.

    Fucking circus.

  • @oil9vinergar - fantastic example of decoupling event from purpose and context. The Americans expected hundreds of thousands of GI deaths invading Japan. Also, Japan would have been annihilated by the Americans defeating a people who would have sacrificed their lives and limbs for their emperor GOD Hirohito. It's a complex subject, yes it's horrible that those innocents died, but that's war. Japan attacked the US and this was the moral high road, yes the moral high road option to end it.

  • @geohabe

  • Toulose Lautrec was the prosecutor?

  • @gigie555 Trying to sway West German populace to our side against The Soviets. Shit, you're upset by THAT?! The West German Police were mostly ex-Nazi police and SS, same in East Germany. The BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst - West German Intelligence Service) were mainly former GESTAPO! Same as The Soviets, they brought GESTAPO into The Stasi (Staatssicherheitsdienst - State Security Service) in East Germany. It's how it was, expedient.

  • Toulose Lautrec was the prosecitor?
