I remember taping this episode and watching it the day after. My mom had gone to work and people told her that it was a tear-jerker. We both said it wasn't that bad (it was sad, but neither one of us cried) until Rachel stopped and let that balloon. Then I bawled. I love ER. I miss ER.

One of the saddest moments in television history. I always loved ER but something was missing after Mark died. Grey's Anatomy will never be anything like ER.

this should have been the last season

from all the things that tv has gotten to our heads past all this years....it comes down to this special moments.when you can feel raw feelings and smell the sadness in a tv show and it feels like something you yourself expirienced.amazing.

@mnpopeye I totally agree! Every time I hear this song, I still shed a tear because of Mark.

9 donkeys do not like the emotions

Nope -certainly not me. It's the late, very talented Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. My Wife told me about this comment, and I had to set the record straight here. (Christopher Neal Nelson)

One of the best TV episodes ever written for any show.

Actually, Clooney declined to come back because he didn't want his presence on the show to overshadow Mark Greene's death.
