@treverholland I agree. This is not good at all! But I think that's the way she sings I think. Personally, I don't believe she has any business singing this role.
I think this Aida's costumes are way too European-like and regal for an enslaved Ethiopian princess. I really doubt the Egyptians would be so kind to give beautiful regal costumes to a slave, even if she were a princess for her people (who the Egyptians probably despised as "uncivilized" or "losers"). Anyway, I'm very glad to see Thomas singing Aida in a large production at Orange. She deserves to be more and more reknown.

Perhaps she was ill, but she is having great difficulty singing this aria (and at times simply isn't).
