Are the homeless people cropping up in New York City an illusion, a mirage? There isn't going to be any change in this country. Things are only going to get worse. We need job creation. What jobs are being created? You wanna be a cashier at the gas station? People with college degrees can't get any jobs, even being a janitor.

College degrees are worthless. You want a degree in religious studies? You can do that without going to school. There is no reason to get a degree unless you are gaining a skill. If manufacturing doesn't come back to America, then America is completely shot. Now all we have is cashiers and clerks. America has the best brains in the world, but the government is squeezing them and breaking them at every level.

today college degrees will get you the same job as a high school dropout, G.E.D, or someone who just came into the usa from a 3rd world country.

He hit the nail on the head regarding College Degrees. I spent nearly 6 years going to night school to earn a Social Psychology degree. After graduating, I tried and tried and tried to find a job in the field, to no avail. That was 20 years ago. Each time I applied I was told that the Bachelor's Degree was essentially useless and that a Masters Degree was required. Would have been nice if they had told me this before I started my studies. College is a total joke.

@R3rules I agree. American business employers are narrow-minded and short sighted.Also, employers can feel threatened by a job candidate who has more education than they do. I was turned down for jobs by human resources people who were jealous of my basic bachelor's degree. Instead, they hired uneducated people who used bad grammar and took constant cigarette breaks at work.

I wonder, perhaps we could stop looking down on people with service jobs. Many waiters and bartenders take home good money, they have nice homes and comfortable lifestyles. Believe it or not.

College is a joke. There should be more options out there, such as on-the-job-training, more vocational schools that sort of thing.... at one high school diplomas actually meant something. Now they don't because you "need" a Bachelor's degree to get ahead.. And even that's not enough now.

yers who won't hire you unless you already have a job. What happened to America? The America where we made at least %96 of our own shit. I bought an American flag the other day and even that said "made in china". On top of that, the country is in trillions of dollars in debt and there's no end in sight. Really, I with the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if ppl started to lose hope for the country.
