I love challenges, but I also love to play around with the battle system. If you know how things work, you can do some pretty cool stuff. This video is a perfect example of "pretty cool stuff".

A level 7 Tifa equipped with her original weapon deals around 15 damage to regular enemies from the back row. That's not a lot. In fact, there are no enemies in the game she can one-hit-KO unless she gets a critical hit. However, with the right setup and preparations, you can make her deal 9999 damage, without giving her any Power Sources!

If you go back to the Shinra HQ on your mandatory visit to Midgar at the end of disc 2, you can pick up a weapon named Master Fist in the shop on the second floor. This weapon has some pretty unusual mechanics: When Tifa gets affected by certain negative statuses, the weapon's attack power increases.

The damage increases by 1x normal damage for every status when she is affected by Darkness, Poison, Sadness, Silence, Slow and when her HP is critical/yellow. Furthermore, it increases by 2x normal damage when she is affected by Death Sentence and Slow-numb (countdown to petrification). With all these statuses, she deals 11 times normal damage. Pretty cool, eh?

With the Leather Glove, that would only increase the damage to ~165, which is still very pitiful. Well, she's not wearing the Leather Glove now. The Master Fist has an Atk of 38, which is 25 more than the Leather Glove. In addition, I equipped her with a Gigas Armlet and a Champion Belt, which both increase her Atk by 30. These 85 extra Atk points make her deal about six times more damage, so we're up to ~75 now, or ~825 with all the statuses.

But we're not done yet. You can easily double that by moving her to front row. That's ~1650, so we're not even close yet. What's the name of that item again? Ah, the Hero Drinks. Yes, with four Hero Drinks, you can double her base Atk, which at this level makes her deal about three times more damage. That's 5000. Finally, the damage can be doubled one more time by getting a critical hit. That's easily done with Deathblow. There you go: 9999 damage!

Actually, you could have dealt even more damage with Berserk, which increases damage by 150%, but you can't use Deathblow when you're berserked, so you would have to rely on luck for her to get a critical hit. But who cares? It wasn't necessary after all.

  • sweet, but that is a basic monster go fight ruby and try and do that

  • I've used this strategy against Emerald, although I didn't inflict all the statuses.

  • Oh man, that is so boss.

  • @trickest1923 they do

    have it

  • Not useful but cool. It remembers me of Lv. 99 Ayla in Chrono Trigger. Not worth the effort, but cool!

  • It's really not worth it with all that effort...

  • Hahahaha Cloud: Sadness

  • they need final fantasy 7 not crisis core on psp and ps3

  • @knightpnyou w-item cheat :/

  • Also hero drinks.

  • Nice, although I find this kind of impractical because it's lengthy to set up in battle.

  • @yamibalus Oh yeah... XD There's also a way to boost stolen items and sources. Have the top-most item with 1 left(potion), and have someone finish off one of the unknowns with a morph and quickly use w-item on the potion, then you will have a blank spot, then glitch off of another usable item in battle. Viola! Your increasing your sourcez. WUT NAO? :O
