A very good overview of the lines history, I know of many times the line has been featured on TV here in Britain and the researchers havn't been as thorough as you obviously have been. Just one thing that you didn't feature, the line has a nickname, the laal ratty. The word laal is cumbrian dialect for little but nobody is sure of the "ratty". There are a few theories that I havn't got the space to mention here. Anyway, nicely done history of the railway
