Respond to this video... Roti just means 'bread' in Asia, and it is always a flat bread and almost always without any raising agents, like yeast. The only exception I know is the North Indian Naan. Depending on the community, the generic term 'roti' will mean the standard type they use. So, North India its Chappati, North Sri Lanka (perhaps also South India?) - Dosa, rest of Sri Lanka/ Sinhalese - Coconut roti. In Colombo - majority of Malay & muslim community whose fare 'Goda' is name that!

@thefunlab Hi! You can make it yourself in Seattle - I made it last night ;-) . That is, the roti shown in your video - which is actually called 'Goda' as short form for 'Godamba Roti'.
As you said, this is sometimes cut up and mixed with meat, verg, curry sauce, egg...as wished by the customer, to make a finished dish that can be eaten as a snack. easily eaten on the run, or even as a meal in itself. This second is what we call 'Kottu Roti'. 'Roti' is usually reserved for Coconut roti ;-)
