Seems that the person making claims about worshipping in 'one's' own tongue does not get the whole stipulation of lex orandi, lex credendi, for he seems to be insinuating that not understanding a service in its entirety is somewhat defective !

@Menechem You are very wrong. For the same word there are different and acceptable meanings, interpretations and acceptions according to time, regions and even generation usage. Even the children know that. Maybe you are not familiar with linguistics. But what I see is that you are not willling to learn besides being very rude and stubborn. That all make you a barbaric, here meaning lacking of civilizaiton and sofistication.
-
@Menechem Oh you are so wrong my dear. I still and firmly suggest that you read more and get yourself some good information before you come here again. Otherwise, you will be only showing the restraint of your knowlegde and your poor manners. In that case, the word 'barbarian' would fit you as a glove, but in its worst acception.

@anaclet The definition of the word in question is the modern meaning of the word, not the clasical. The term barbarian/barbaric these days refers to such acts as of honour killing, abuse of women in Islamic society, terrorism, abortions (forced or consensual).

@anaclet First of all I do not have a short temper. Secondly I know all about the term you are using, I do a great deal of reading history, and to use it in its historical context for modern people is just plain wrong. It would be like me using the Ni***/coloured (which I would never do as I'm not a racist even if it wasin the 1700's, 1800's, and early 1900's) in regards to all blacks, The definition of the word in question is the modern meaning of the word, not the clasical.

@Menechem Oh dear child, I see your case is worse than I thought. Before you lose your short temper, make a further and deeper research you'll understand the true meaning of the word. Try Wikipedia, for instance: The primary function of the word "barbarian", and its cognates, is to differentiate members of one's own society from people perceived as being outside of it, and to posit that one's own culture is superior. The word barbaros in Ancient Greek was an antonym for civis and polis. (...)

@anaclet a : of, relating to, or characteristic of barbarians b : possessing or characteristic of a cultural level more complex than primitive savagery but less sophisticated than advanced civilization
2a : marked by a lack of restraint : wild
Merriam Webster online. The word has nothing to do with Rome. Romans were considered barbarians at one time .Chinese are not considered barbarians eiother as they had sophisticated societal gains long before the west, like print. You're ignorant.

@Menechem On my dear sweet Menechem, you are such a darling! Thank you for the nice compliments. Well just in case you are not familiar with the word, barbaric only means whatever or whomever is not from Rome, meaning the Roman Empire. What is from outside its borders. In that sense, yes, the Arabics are barbarian, just like the Chinese, the Mongols or so many other peoples. And as you certainly know, it was the barbarian invasions that caused the fall of Rome. Peace and sweet life!
Let us pray for the Christians in the Holy Land and through out the Middle East
