  • Thank you for posting this memorial of our Dan. I'm one of those Meriwether outlaws...but Dan and I never ever stopped being family. He was a funny, talented, crazy, political, loving guy. He gave absolutely the best hugs on earth; was a wonderful chef; shared my obsession for Sumatra coffee and late nights and missed the cabin more than even me. I love you, Dan, then ~ now ~ always.

  • @pattywilhite - My sincere condolences for your loss - Dan's passing has affected me in ways I am still struggling to come to grips with. I share your every positive assessment of our wonderful friend. I will miss him `til the day I die.

    O Danny boy...

  • Dan was a college classmate. You are right about the dry and droll sense of humor. No flashy guy looking to catch the headlines. But if you were patient and got to know Dan, it was gold! So sad to know he's gone. Thanks for the video tribute, pics and song sample.

  • @RussBP1981 - I wish I could have posted this song under happier circumstances, but I'm glad to be able to share some of my appreciation for the fine fellow Dan was.

  • Wonderful tribute! I remember him as so funny and so kind. There's a hole in the world now.

  • Dear Gordo, so sorry about your loss.Oviously a wonderful guy, and, a great musician. A big hug from Berlin.

  • Here is where we become more aware of our own mortality... RIP, Dan.

  • I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's so difficult when we start losing our friends. I've been having the second wave of that happening for about a decade now (first wave was in the '80's with AIDS). With each one that leaves us, I am happy to have known them for the time I did. It's always a reminder that tomorrow may never come, so do the things you want to do today...

Beautiful tribute. Seeing all your memories made me smile. Great times, teen angst and all...

    Rest in Peace, Dan...

  • What a lovely tribute, Gordo. I'm sure Dan's life was richer for your involvement in it, as I know your life was richer for knowing him. Nice song too!

  • My condolences, i can see looking at him that we would probably have got along.
