Officials from Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital were joined by Congressman John Yarmuth for the opening of the hospital's new interventional cardiology lab at a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Foundation was the recipient of $594,000 in federal funding to purchase equipment for the lab.
The equipment enables doctors at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth to perform emergency angioplasty onsite in an effort to open blocked arteries within minutes of arriving at the hospital. Previously, those same patients had to be transported to another facility across town.
The new interventional cardiology lab is a pilot project--one of around 40 in the United States.
Thank you! This is sure a big WIN for us that live in the Southend! The staff and physicians are excellent at St. Mary's Interventional Radiology, I have total confidence in them! Thanks to all who made it possible!
