While spending time in the country (New York state) there are various ways of "vegging out."
You can find a box with 8 strings and a pair of chop sticks and just hammer away (as I am doing here) or you can go outside and look for rocks to stand on end (as Alan is doing).
I have no idea what this rock activity is called but I suppose "rock pointing" is as good a name as any.

  • That box thing is actually pretty relaxing.

  • @theBradlands Yes... the 8 strings are tuned Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si Do and so you cannot hit a bad note.

  • well I was just transfixed hoping and willing for that little rock to just stay still on top of that bigger rock. And my energy and thoughts seemed to have done the trick!!!!!

    Now thats meditating.

  • Like the hammered dulcimer effect with the box-n-stix. But as for the rock thing.....that was amazing! Heck I can hardly balance an egg on it's end much less along a rock. BTW...I have a 'thing' for rocks..dunno why. I actually have a small box in my basement with small rocks I have gathered from places I have been. Think I will go 'point' them...lol

  • That's great!

  • like a Picasso and eating soul food with mouth closed (;

  • Hello

    Lew...

    I've not ventured into New York state in a very long time. Perhaps it is time that I veg out with a box with 8 strings and a pair of chop sticks...or even engage in some of that there rock pointing. Thanks for the inspiration. I wonder it these methods would work on the shores of Long Island as well.

  • Mesmerising!

  • Impressive.

  • of the two, rock pointing is more nerve wracking ... the suspense!
