It took a lot longer to get this video out than I had expected because my surgeon kept prolonging the date they'd loosen my bands, which ended up being only a couple days ago.

The ultimate goal of these videos is to give effective research materials to prospective patients of this surgery and there is really a LOT of information I could give you about any aspect of this process. Email me at schkimp@hotmail.com if you're curious about anything.

  • hi, I had my surgery done 4 weeks ago. All my face is numbed and I can't feel it properlly and can't move my lips normally (not talking about kissing, :) just wanted to ask when did all your sensations came back to normal? Because now I'm scared that it'll last forever and I'll never recover. :(

  • @Girl25ish the numbness takes a long time to go away unfortunately =/ i'm trying to recall exactly when it was for me, but the improvement is really gradual so it's hard to say. i think by 3ish months i felt pretty much normal again though. hope it's soon for you!

  • hey man i'm at day 8 right now after my surgery...feelin pretty good surprisingly.. and was just wondering how long you had to keep your elastics on after your surgery (i know i still have a long time to go lol) and also, how long before you could eat normal food like hamburgers, fries, salad, sanwiches, etc. thanks

  • oh wow, congrats on being past the first week! that was the worst. i had to have the elastics on for between 1.5- 2 months, but they gave me looser and looser ones every so often, which helped. i actually ate my first burger after about a month, but with much difficulty and discomfort. it wasn't til a couple months after that eating those foods started to feel more normal, but it's up to you how soon you wanna try
