Janet Kuypers performs this piece, along with poems and prose during the July 17 2007 performance art show "Living in a Big World", live 07/17/07 at the Cafe (5115 North Lincoln Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois). The show contained poems and music from assorted musicins from Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, New Mexico, and even Canada, as well as original sampled music, include the writings listed toward the bottom of this show explanation. But in this show, Janet Kuypers, because shw was exemplifying living in a big world (the title of the show), she drew a large chair, painted it onto a white canvas (which actually was a bunch of pieces of 8.5" x 11" paper stuck together) and attached it to a wooden base, so she could literally sit in a drawing of a large chair (it was 60" wide, actually). The visual display of the artwork projected onto a large paper screen for this show (which once again was actually a bunch of pieces of 8.5" x 11" paper stuck together)was a drawn TV, and inside the TV a bunch of Janet Kuypers photographs from around the world was shown in this "drawn" TV.

  • Man, I just saw the comment from RosemarieChen409 that they thought this video was "Messmarizing !!" (oh well, I guess that they meant MESMERIZING, even though they couldn't spell it right) and that they "Cant stop listening to this". Which is cool, but every time I se4e a comment, the owner pulls it. Oh well (at least SOMEONE is around to relay what has been said at this video site...).

  • Wow, I just saw that even SophiaMorales306 just wrote 01/21120 that she was "Speechless!!" by the video. Cool! I know this is a weird poem, but it is cool that people can react so much to the performance art piece! Excellent!

  • filthyvivian (do NOT want 2 no why u r filthy) wrote that "I love her song s shes great and no ones better then her" - but it is nice to see positive comments like this on these poetry/performance art videos. It's a shame comments like these were previously pulled, though...

  • vitalisgenevieve wrote that "love her. I think she's the future of pop music and an inspiration to a lot of people including me. ;D", which is funny, because this is one of the videos where Kuypers is not singing (the music is from the Bastard Trio, but she sings with Mom's Favorite Vase and the Second Axing).

  • Well, she's not singing in this piece (I hate stupid people), but I have heard her singing before, and she DOES have a really good voice. But I hate spammers like this freak here trying to sell you access to porn that has NOTHING to do with a poetry performance art show reading, but I DO have to say that although it was a weird first poem for a show, the poetry readings at theCafe were cool, and Janet Kuypers does read good poetry.

  • Uh, you mustn't have gotten the idea of a poem or performance art then. I know this girl has done a ton of poetry readings and performance art shows, and this one is different from other shows, but ALL of a performance artists' shows should be different. Sorry you couldn't get it.

  • ...or else being crazy sound like fun. But I suppose that if there were living fish in the curtains and you have to throw yogurt at them to keep them away, on some existential level I suppose that could sound lkind of cool to the observer

  • ... and I don't mean that in a cool way.

  • You make Hell sound like fun.

  • I love how the title of your poem got your vid somehow connected to mine... :-)
