  • You may notice a few groans of pain on this video :-(

I pulled my back lifting my Kalkhoff on and off a train - it's 28kg and very awkward to pick up and carry with a bag of cameras on your back.

Keeping the bike and camera upright at lights and when maneuvering was quite painful at times. I should have done the video later but I wanted to catch the Xmas lights. (Yes, I'm an idiot!)

  • That was a long wait to finaly get a new eBike movie from you ;-) Happy New Year 2012 to you and your family. I had to downlad some of your movies, my interent connectiuon didn't allow me to watch 720p on my media center, so i downloaded them ;-) Thanks for sharing, I hope there are many more to come ;-) By the way, did you experience any difficulties with your Kalkhoff Tasman, like lose screws on the motor? Just asking I heard it from Haibike's bosch motor.

  • Happy New year to you and yours too! No, the Panasonic motor has given me no problems at all - I've hardly given it a thought. I will be going to France a lot this year so I'll try to do some cycle footage there.

  • @spogley Wow, that sounds great. Yep, I thought you haven't had any problems, I thought you would have mentioned anything. The bosh motor has more torque 50nm but what I have heard they are kind of sensitive. Your level, are they speed levels to set or just torque support? Thanks for sharing ;-)

  • They change the power ratios (is that the same as torque support?). Low senses your input and boosts it by 50%, normal by 100% and high by 150%. I only use normal, really, preferring to switch it on and off to conserve battery power.

Leaving it on normal and in give and take conditions, I got 30 miles range when the battery was new, about 26 or 27 two years later.

  • @spogley Hi David, thanks for your reply. I guess the power ratios are the torque support ;-) I do like the Haibike also but I think I will get a Kalkhoff ones my finance situation allows. As I am more on flat roads and city like. Haibike is a Pedelec more for MountainBikers. The riding position seams to be relaxing and comfortable on the Kalkhoff :-)) And yes, the battery life after two years is amazing and I would call that still going strong ;-) Have a safe journey to France + Fun
