The HP Slates N-Trig digitizer leaves much to be desired. By no way is this even remotely competition for Wacom.

  • PS: The Photoshop "driver" is actually a WinTab driver, the stylus technology that Photoshop requires (because Adobe refuses to support Windows' native stylus support). For a long time, N-Trig didn't offer a WinTab driver so some people tried hacking the Wacom driver to extract it. Fortunately that's no longer necessary. Unless this issue is due to N-Trig's software...

N-Trig released a Wintab driver but its horrid and more or less useless. For kicks I tried installing Wacoms Tablet PC driver (the Wintab driver) and it won't install since it doesn't recognize any wacom tech.

  • Is this just a photoshop thing, or is this happening in all pressure-sensitive apps? Can you do a second demo with Sketchbook Pro? SBP doesn't use WinTab, and it's less of a memory hog, so if that solves the issue then there might be something besides the hardware causing the issue.

  • @digitalnuke

Sketchbook Pro works pretty well as does Artrage. There are some issues with the Ntrig pen itself, but Pressure works fine in those two programs since they don't require Wintab. But The N-trig Wintab driver only seems to work with Photoshop...and it doesn't really work as seen by my video.

Other wintab programs like Paint Tool Sai, and Mypaint don't recognize N-trigs wintab driver and have no pressure.

  • I can get better performance by Mirroring my PC Desktop with Photoshop over WIFI network on my Ipad......or a Touchpad, whatever hi performance tablet you have that support the Splashtop app.

  • "Now it's stuck on vectors..."

    xDD

  • This exactly matches my experience with the N-Trig digitizer on my 'old' HP TX2.

While I've never tried a Wacom digitizer on a screen, I feel it must be better than the N-Trig. The N-Trig/HP software release process leaves me wanting, and any updates you DO get are useless half of the time.

I'm going to be buying the EP121 and I hope that the Wacom digitizer does better.
