The 6809 computer can read files off of a CompactFlash card (in FAT16 format) and execute them.

In addition to writing my own CompactFlash and FAT16 driver code, I've written a couple games. Here I'll demonstrate a full implementation of blackjack; multiple decks, multiple players, etc., written in assembly language.

The 6809 is using the Terminalscope (http://msarnoff.org/terminalscope ) for keyboard input and text display. (And it's glitchy, I know. :-p)

Project page is http://msarnoff.org/projects/6809 and source code will be coming in the future.

  • is it possible to insert desktop ram module on the circuit board? i have one left over rambus dram with an pcie slot (got it from old mb)

  • @hanrinch It would be great if you could, but modern RAM is much too complex for a system this old. It uses a 512K static RAM chip. Laughably small now, but massive by 1970s standards!

  • Hay that is a cool computer um can you send me the schematic for it

if you can that would be awesome and you shod make more you cold sell them I wold bye one

  • @geoman298 Schematics will probably be ready by mid-2011, I still have a bit of work to do.

  • im in my first term in computer engineering and were currently learning assembler for the m68k. Is it the same as the cpu youre using?

its very interesting stuff. Did you code the os as well?

  • @Squig8 The 68k is much different. The 6809 is kind of like a 6502 with more registers and instructions.
