They were going to make a halo movie to be released this year but it got scrapped and it was split into two movies.
District 9 and Avatar.
Notice closely at the effects used in the halo live action commercials and then compare them to district 9....also in the Avatar commercial... notice there are hornets in it

ODST is an expansion to Halo (Microsoft prices games, blame them) built on the Halo 3 campaign engine. Which means if we want matchmaking and less lag it would have delayed release by months. Would would delay Reach by months. No thanks.
