This is part 3 of NWS-9's special Postcards: 50 Years of Channel 9 in Adelaide. This Adelaide TV special was broadcast on Sunday September the 6th 2009 at 5:30PM and was hosted by Keith Conlon. Part three explains the significance Channel Nine played in News and Sport from September 1959. From the first news reader John Doherty to Kevin Crease, Kelly Nestor and Rob Kelvin, news and sport have been at the forefront of television in South Australia. Before the digital age all news and sport from overseas was sent by plane to Australia with the latest stories including the Kennedy assassination. Channel Nine was also involved in cricket and local SANFL long before the AFL, and even had their own local Sunday Sports Show with Ian Daisy Day, KG Cunningham and Knuckles Curly. Enjoy this video from TVNUTS01, all the best Sam Briggs.
