1886 VICTORIAN BEACH COTTAGE Known as Castle Betsworth , this two and one-half story Frame Vernacular dwelling was constructed between 1886-1890 and is one of the oldest houses in Lighthouse Park. It s distinctive intersecting clipped gable roof has long been a prominent element of the skyline of the area. It is one of only a few houses that have a masonry first floor (or raised basement), with wood frame construction of the upper stories. The wrap-around porch has been partially enclosed but still has its original ornate chamfered posts and jigsawn brackets and balusters. The current owner has down extensive remodeling in the past five years including a new roof, a/c, refinishing the original wood floors, updating the electric and plumbing, new drywall, etc. A separate 225 sq. ft. cottage has been restored as well and offers an excellent accesory use. As one of the few surviving Victorian Beach cottages in our area, there exists here a tremendous opportunity to continue to restore and polish one of St. Augustine s prominent historic homes. $425,000 http://www.homesandland.com/16150163/
