@easydigitals I've dragged my figure into a different background while selected after I used the marquee tool, but now I'm stumped! All I've done is move the outline of the figure into the new background with the moving dashes outlining her..but now I can't go any further. How do I get her to appear so i can resize and work on the image?? I am making very slow incremental progress, but I'm frustrated! -HELP!

With a really well detailed picture this thing usually ends up catching the whole page if i go off the littlest bit which makes me really angry i have even gone down to a size 1 brush! PLEASE HELPPP!!!!!!!

@backwardstraight There are other techniques for a detailed picture like using channels to extract. You might do a search for a tutorial on that.
With the quick selection tool you can also train it by brushing it with with the minus over the areas that you want not to be selected then go to the area you want to select with the plus tool and it will remember not the select the other areas. Does that make sense?
