Here's my first dual electric motor plane. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible and opted for a single battery layout. In retrospect, picking a real plane to build would've made this easier, but this "su57" really suprised me. This single battery setup is definetly the easiest way at a dual motor setup. I believe this way you reduce the chances of something going wrong, not to mention the weight you save with less parts. Less weight means you have less to worry about during construction. At first I didn't expect much from this design, but after 3 days of solid testing and most of the kinks worked out, this plane holds up with most kit planes. I think light thrust vectoring would be the next step for this one. I chose KFm2 airfoils over the KFm4's because the 2's have given stable results every time I have used them.

  • You've done an outstanding job keeping things minimal in terms of weight. That third day was when you really greased it. Great looking plane. Looks very at home in the air. Glad you hung in there and worked out all the kinks. You can feel real proud of what you were able to achieve. Five stars all the way.

  • Thanks Mr. Kline. I forgot to mention 2 very important aspects of this plane. The first is that the dimensions were based on the size of the props. The second was that I designed the entire top wing and fuselage around the kfm2 airfoils that worked tremendously on this plane. Even with all of the kinks at the beginning and running only one motor, the kfm2 made it possible to fly. Since I started using the kf airfoils, all of my concept planes start with kfm2's because of their success rate.

  • Brando!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

I totally love that plane.. On the 3rd day, it flew awesomely!!.. LOVE the dual motors!!!.. Definitely 5*.. Can't wait to see more..

  • I'm really happy it turned out the way it did. I NEEDED this plane to fly. The last 2 planes I tried to build were speed wings and I just couldn't get it right. I was very frustrated and assumed this plane would to the same thing. But it came together much better then anyone expected. A few more minor tweaks and this would be a nice pdf plane... Very forgiving for beginners of jet foamies. Thanks for the stars!

  • Impressive work. really nice build. I think you may have a bit much blocking the airflow into the motors. just my observation.

  • Thanks for the comment. I know it looks like a lot but the intakes are actually massive inside and at the front opening, and there are several access holes in them as well to promote airflow.

  • Thanks for the sharing.

I realy enjoyed this one. Interesting that you are the only one besides me (that I have seen or heard of) that use balsa leading edges. They are great to stiffen the wing and more. Well done and also I found it interesting that you had so much use of your canards. My SU37 couldn't care less if I use them or not. ;) But you dont have elevators like that so...

    Well done!

  • any chance we can get the blue print :)

nice work on the build n flying. 5*

  • Very cool , love the way the wings look in the air.

Hope your back is better and I hope you get more chances to come to the chat !

    5 Stars.

  • Thanks dude. I guess I couldn't wait for counter rotating props, lol. Still trying to master a fast flying wing. Your tips on the dual setup made it super simple. The plane is rock solid and the electronics don't get hot and run perfect. If you go to Mark Twains, check out those shaped balsa leading edge peices, they stiffen the wing and look really good. Thanks to you guys for telling me how to run it with one battery! Next time I'm by I will have some goodies for you to try out!

  • Before the first flight I thought to myself why didn't I just build a plane that already exists. But I guess the stars aligned and most of the kinks were very simple to correct. Great work on your last couple of videos, very informative (not boring at all)

  • yeah, sorry about that. Right before filming I was released from the hospital for a back injury and I've been on a lot of pain medication ever since. This plane must be good cause I was really doped up when flying it. lol. Thanks for the stars!
