joel you missed the point of the question....i think the writer was asking about the risks of using only google adsense, not if their still going to be in business.

The risk being that google changes an algorithm, and your trafic dries up, and your ad sense revenue falls off a cliff. Thats the risk with going only google adsense. Thats why its "risky" in some opinions.
